Weekend Vacations W/ Kids in SF Bay Area

We live in Campbell and are wanting to do some weekend getaways with the kids before school starts. Since we have 4 kids under 12, we don't really want anything that takes too much prep and effort, as just managing them for the weekend is enough! We've been to Alcatraz, Pier 39, the Exploretoreum, the SF & Oakland Zoo, Great America, Bonfonte (Gilroy) Gardens. We want something new and fun, but no necessarily revolving around the typical "instant on entertainment" world.

Any suggestions?

Golden Gate Park boat rides near the museum. Not sure if you were just interested in the Bay area? Also Muir Woods, Stinson Beach, Sausalito Ferry Ride, Botega Bay to name a few natural places to go without the "amusement park" feel.

I enjoyed the Intel Museum in Santa Clara- fun stuff about the history of computer processors- and a cool gift shop.

You might visit some of the botanical gardens- like the ones in Oakland- but also in Golden Gate Park.

If a garlic lover visit Gilroy.

Mission Delores on Delores street is wonderful history.


The drive from the GG Bridge south to Half Moon bay is wonderful, as is the drive north across the GG- to Stinson Beach, and Bodega- the school house in Bodega remains from the 1962 film 'The Birds'.
