Exclamation Peace River is drying up

Down here in the Punta Gorda area we have the Peace River. This is where alot of the drinking water comes from. It was in the paper the other day that alot of the little streams and creeks are drying up and the salt water is starting to creep into the river. Our drinking supply is in trouble. The government is allowing so much new construction here which will eventually cause a big problem. We will not have enough water to supply all the new homes and existing homes. Something needs to be done now. The government and commissioners knew this over 30 years ago and did nothing about it.

So what's the proposed solution? Nothing?

I don't really drink/use tap water, except obviously for bathing, so I wouldn't think it's a terrible problem. It's bad, but at least there's always bottled water to drink and cook with. You'd just need enough water for bathing somehow from the tap.

If the water isn't there then you can't even take a shower, wash a car, etc.
They have had us restricted for over 4 years with washing cars, watering grass etc.

Lets see, a family of 5, 3 dogs, 1 cat, and 2 horses shouldn't take more then 500 bottles of Perrier a day.

Has anybody around that area successfully drilled good wells? I'm not talking surface wells of less then 100 feet, but good water wells?

Where I live, the entire city water is via wells. No river to help us.

It's kind of funny in this area. On the West side of town, water is plentiful. You can drop a well anywhere and get good water. West of town is all plush and green. However, East of town, is dry and brown. You can sink all the wells you want. But you're still going to haul your water from town.
