What I Like About Oregon

I just wanted to share my good impressions of Oregon - as they occur.
Here's one thing I really like about Oregon:
Right outside of town, on the east, there are several small parks - mostly at different points around Devil's Lake (The "D" Lake) which envelopes around five miles of the eastern Lincoln City border.
There is one park that circles another, smaller lake - and has a 2.5 mile trail thru fairly old-growth forest - right there at the edge of town!
So we can go hike that for a little while - and then drive about 8 blocks down to the Ocean - and hike that beach for miles - all at the very toe of the mighty Pacific!
(Oceans got toes?)

Darn Wyody, was just looking at some Satelite photo's of your area. Devil's Lake looks like most of it is private property with only a few entry points for everybody else. Is that the case of is it just hard to tell from the satelite?
Look's like a nice quaint little town though.

Can't say yet W53 - don't know. I've been around it a couple of times - stopped at a couple of places - met some folks with docks - but haven't learned it yet.
Focus at the north end of the lake where it crosses 101. As the road follows the south side of the lake, the first bldg is a boat-rental place. I think they open this month. At the south end of the lake ... on the north side - there's regatta-park and it looks like you can put-in there. I'll keep you posted.
(psssssst! 53! Hey ... they think it's winter here~!)

Down south about 15 miles is Depoe Bay - whale-watching capital of the world, they say. It is known to some as a "Quaint little drinking town with a fishing problem" .

We moved from SW Wyoming to Oregon Feb 1. Although we had spent several years in SW Wyoming, we had just returned October of last year - after over a year near Cincinnati Ohio and a month in a little town south of Oklahoma City.

What's really cool, Panterro is, you're about to find out!!
As for me - now that I'm in the perfect vacation-spot, the job offers keep coming in! We had companies trying to hijack us while we were still loading the truck to come here!! Got one this morning - don't even know where it is for sure ... someplace in the state.
Oh, didn't want to mention it while you were considering your new position - but they're looking for a cop in this fair town - gotta be Oregon certified ... and there's a casino. Always nice to have at least one long-arm on your side, eh? Besides, I gotta let the last one go pretty-soon. Duct tape's starting to deteriorate.

Well please get out the camera and take some pictures. It has been many years since I've been there and I would love to see some of that coast again.
I don't know why...but I thought you were retired.

We have a bunch of friends that are from Minnesota. They actually had a Minnesota party last year with weird Minnesota food. They have funny accents. Reminds me of the movie Fargo.
What kind of funny food lutefisk , you guys sound funny to us to.

I've been thinking along the same lines, PDX. We have the lushness of the south, the woods, moss and "spooky-ol'-trees" of the mid-Atlantic and New England states, lakes, rivers, the ocean, cliffs, waterfalls, wildlife. The only thing I'd add is a little more tropical influence as I like to swim natural waters - and that looks a little limited here. However, it's a nice trade to live in a place this nice that still gets a touch of winter and maybe even some snow for Christmas.
