This is a wonderful destination for those seeking to get away from the stress of the real world ... and perhaps hoping to spend a little money.
Standing approximately 10 miles from the town of Warm Springs on US 26, the Resort offers a "Village" where you can rent a spacious room with a kitchen or stay nights in a Tepee -or- you can take one of the approx. 140 rooms in the lodge. The Village offers a hot-springs mineral pool while the Lodge has a nice swimming pool.
They also have a nice variety of conference rooms - which was the reason for our visit. Unfortunately, we barely had 5 minutes free in those four days to enjoy the amenities but the provided food was excellent with one evening devoted to a "Salmon Bake" put on by members of the tribe along with a great presentation of Ceremonial Dancing - which of course includes the native drums. Awaken your native self.
Stars at night, coyotes at sunrise, Native American music early mornings on the local community radio station at 91.9 FM.
It is about a half-mile from the Village to the Lodge - and in between is the Casino. The resort offers horseback riding, golf, spa and spa-treatments, work-out rooms, hiking trails and a small variety of restaurants and lounges. For those travelling from the Portland vicinity, you get to travel past Mt Hood and over the Cascade ski-areas.
I did not take time to check out the Timberline Lodge which is the spot I have been told where much of the original "The Shining" movie was filmed - but it sits only 6 miles from the highway just east, past the Cascade summit.
The "Clamshell" Festival occurs in late June - and outsiders are warmly welcomed to the town of Warm Springs.
Worth investigating next time you need an escape from Portland, Eugene, Bend, Madras or anywhere else for that matter.

There are so many different links to it - but none are that great individually so, better to google it up and run through them yourself.
However, here's one to get you started:

Wyody,
I did a project in Skamainia and heard about this place. Always wanted to run over there but never got a chance. Now I wish I would have taken time. But you know how GOV contracts are. 14 hours a day, 6 days a week. That last day, you don't go no where. haha

Thanks for the link, Odie. It's an absolutely beautiful place with so many things to do! There are even teepees available for camping out...how cool is that?

I did not actually check the Teepes out - but I would assume that they've been "whitened down" for normal but curious folks. I lived in a Crow-style Teepe for a period of time ... it is not the Hilton (but is quite nice if you're into that sort of thing).
I believe they have a couple of suites with 4BRs and a Kitchen - all sorts of possibilities.
It's a warm sort of place. Eastern Oregon is similar to the Idaho and Wyoming (and some of Nevada) high desert - probably plenty of near-100 degree summer days. Nights will still be way cool in this type of country though so, requires extra gear.

It's definitely a place I would be interested in checking out. I had forgotten how beautiful that area is. I was very impressed with all the options of rooms available...it's workable for almost any type of budget. Sounds like the perfect climate...hot and dry during the day and cool weather for sleeping.

I suppose it might be best to google up the town of Warm Springs and do an area weather-scan. Bend and Madras are the closest consequential towns.
When I worked a few spots in eastern Oregon years ago ... it was hot. HOT! Still had more humidity at that time than Idaho or Wyody.
Last week, daytimes were in the comfortable 80's. Night-time was, I'd guess, in the 50's or less. I'm sure temps of near 100 and over can be expected a couple of months a year at least ... or parts of them, anyway. Remember that the high-desert can hit freezing and/or snow any night of the year. When we got home at the coast, daytime high was about 47.

That's my favorite type of wine. Everyone seems to love Pinot Noir after the movie Sideways.

I thought some parts were mildly funny, but it was very long and drawn out. I can honestly say I've never heard of 'Duck Pond Pinot Noir', but if YOU recommend it, I'll give it a try.

It's not expensive at all! Might have to try that.
