We had a severe storm roll through last night. Penny sized hail and 70+mph winds. Thankfully my plants are all on the East side of the house and the winds come in from the West. So the hail missed all my plants. Got a good drenching though. But no damage.
The hail can pound the crap out of my pickup, just don't mess with my mators.

When ripe, this is a Yellow Bell Pepper. It's about 4 inches across in the picture.

Jalapena plant. Look at all the buds! I've got 28 of these plants in.

Jalapena on the left and that Yellow Bell Pepper on the right.

Jalapena.

Even with the short growing season here, you can see I'm getting pretty good results. All of these plants are in Tubs. haha Not a garden in the ground. I did the tubs for 2 reasons. We're not supposed to cut in a vegi garden here. Plus, each week I move the tubs to a new location and then see how they do. More sun, less sun, etc. Trying to find the best place for growth.
Ate my first radish yesterday. My radishes, I planted about 25 of them. Waited 2 weeks and planted 25 more. Waited 2 weeks and planted 25 more.

I water every other day. Next year, I'm going to fill up those tubs to about an inch from the top. Although they're doing pretty good, I can see the roots (main) over against the side of the tub. I think they would do better if it was about 6 inches deeper.

Always used chicken manure a month or two before planting. Used the shade screen and cut holes in them for the plants. That kept the weeds down. Graveled between boxes. I hear from my neighbor that we need to also chicken wire under the boxes because of gofers.
Well the kids start back to school on Monday...so maybe I will have more computer time then:) I miss chatting with everyone.

So I picked what I could for canning and started putting it all away. I did leave 2 real hearty tomato plants, and 2 hearty pepper plants. I'm going to see how they stand up. Course, I'll cover them when it freezes, but still curious how long they'll last.
It'll give me a better idea for next year on when to cover and how long I can get away with that.
