It's going to be pretty drastic. Atlanta is a large city with (if I remember) an atrociously bad traffic issue. There's a lot to do down in Atlanta, and Atlanta is anything but whitebread in its population.
Iowa is rural, predominantly White, and spacious. I absolutely love it here. Despite the perception that Iowa is full of White farmers (which is partially true), once you get into Des Moines, it's pretty diverse. It's harder to find stuff to do, but that doesn't mean it isn't out there. It just takes a little more effort. And in my 27 years of living here (I'm 29), I've learned that you can almost always get anywhere in Des Moines within 20 minutes.
I've visited Atlanta, and I can't say it was my favorite city that I've visited, so maybe it's just that different. But Iowa is a nice place with nice people. Yes, there is a lot of corn in the country, but after a while, you begin to grow an appreciation for the beauty of a cornfield.
If you have specific questions about Iowa, feel free to e-mail. I love my state, and I adore Des Moines.
