last pay subject ot VA tax? I moved from VA a few days prior to my official retirement effective date. I receive a final pay, including substantial leave cashed out after I moved. Is this subject to Virginia tax? All preretirement pay, including this shows up on my W2 with VA as the state reflected on it.

Anything you received AFTER you changed your state of residence is taxable by your new state of residence, not VA. As long as the date on the check is after the date you changed your legal residence, you're good to go.
Be prepared to prove the date your residence changed though! VA is noted for fighting this type of issue if the dates are close. Copies of leases, HUD-1 closing statements, travel receipts, vehicle registration records, voter registration records, etc. all can help you prove the date that you claim your legal residence changed.
