Maine sure is beautiful, but cold brrrrrrrr! How are the real estate and job markets there?

It can become damn cold in Maine- colder then what I like here in southern New England (Connecticut) and this weekend is going to be brutally cold for all of the northeast-
New England is in a recession now- with Rhode Island suffering the worst of it- the real estate market in Maine is best in coastal Maine- and southern Maine around Portland- which is only 1.5 hours to Boston. Prices have fallen- but the markets are in far better shape then California, AZ, Nevada and Florida. There was not overbuilding in Maine or rampant speculation.
Maine also has a very low crime rate- as does the rest of New England, excellent schools and local services.

It's beautiful but the job market is not good. The medical field however is a great field and hospitals are always hiring, nurses, phlebotomists, xray techs, social workers, dental assistant. You should see if you can get a certification before moving and use a hiring agency to transfer you IMHO
