It should be in the mid-seventies for Thanksgiving in Tempe. Can't get much better than that. We will be serving about 25-30 people for dinner. If I need to I will put a few tables in the back yard since it will be such a lovely day.

Little bit chilly the last few days and looks like AZ is in for some rain...the weather thing on my computer has now gone to orange for flood watches through Tuesday...

I see the state is receiving heavy rain especially in the Valley of the Sun.

Cold and rainy in Tempe today, if you consider 54 cold. It feels cold to me. We are up to just over 3 inches of rain for the entire year. We usually get about 7-8 inches per year so we really need the rain. Lots of snow up north in AZ.

I spent 23 years in the Chicago area so I do understand the minus signs. Once we went back to Chicago from Tempe for Christmas. It was 80 degrees when we got on the plane and -19 when we got off the plane 3 hours later. Talk about a shock to my system!

My folks used to winter down in Apache Junction. But when they thought it was done snowing, they headed back up to the Black Hills of South Dakota. They didn't want to brave the heat of AZ. Course, they didn't want to Shovel Partly cloudy either.
I can't remember the last time we had this cold, this soon. Usually the below zero stuff hit after Christmas.

They are predicting 5 to 10 inches of rain next week for the Phoenix area. We only average 7-8 inches per year. I hope we don't float away. Anyone have a canoe or rowboat I can borrow.
Wow! That's a lot of rain in a short period of time. Our state had a lot of rain this year, and the experts say that it's an all-time 70 year high! Lots of people were pumping water out of the basements who never did before.

What's the latest on the rain prediction?

We've only received 2-3 inches so far, but the biggest storm is starting to hit us now. In some parts of Maricopa county they are calling for 1-2 inches per hour some time today. I am pretty sure my house is safe, but traveling over the next few days could be a mess. They are calling for rain through Saturday. Skiing in the Flagstaff area and Ruidoso should be excellent for the next week or so, maybe longer.
