Same here, MyAzi...I lived in San Antonio for over ten years and absolutely LOVED it. I guess it depends upon the person, but almost anything that I wanted to do was within an hour's drive. Except the ocean...that's why we're in Navarre, now. The people are awesome...so is the food.

What sort of thing is your preferred recreation? My father-in-law is an avid birdwatcher, so they went down to the Rio Grande delta. There are scads of birds down there you won't see anywhere else in the US. My tastes would put me more toward Big Bend National Park. I'm not much into classical resort destinations, so clearly other people's choices would be different. |

We've been to Garner State Park and it was a lot of fun. Beautiful area, depending upon what one likes. I was a little skeptical about being there, due to the snakes, spiders, etc. Nothing bothered us, however. I've heard that there are many people who travel up to Fredericksburg to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area to hike, bicycle, and birdwatch. Never been there...always wanted to go but never followed through.

This is a gigantic lake on the TX/OK border. I know that some areas are populated by the Hollywood-types. I don't know if anybody else has any info on it so I included this link: Lake Texoma - Enjoy the Sun, Water&Fun!
